About – Q&A

I started writing about nightlife when I was 18 for magazines in Mexico City (the largest city in the world) Now I do it for fun at this blog. I love a good bar and I love almost all types: old classics, hips ones, total dives, etc. If a bar in New York City is any kind of cool, you will eventually read about it here.

Feel free to ask for suggestions or any questions regarding NYC bars. Your bar prayers will be answered.

To help you find a bar by LOCATION or TYPE just go to the CATEGORIES drop down menu.

Cheers!

Hey! Just wanted to say that I like this blog, found out about it through Meetup. I’m adding it to the reads on mine. Keep it coming :-)

    Thanks!

Will do. I am trying to post a new bar at lest every other day, if not everyday. And you can be sure that each bar I blog about has something to it.

    cheers! Tanya

    Hi,
You may be just the person who can help me. There are a group of us who are looking for a nice, somewhat quiet, so we can talk, happy hour/bar. There would be anywhere from 10 to 20 of us. It may be someplace where we would meet on a Tuesday, once a month.

We need a place in Manhattan, preferably on the Upper West or Upper East Side.

I was thinking maybe upstairs at Sardi’s, the bar area is pretty roomy. But we’re open to suggestions, and it looks like you’ve visited a number of places and may have a good take on this.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Jan

    Hey Jan

It is a bit tricky to find a place that can accommodate 20 people. However you have 2 things in your favor: the economy and that Tuesday should be a relaxed day in most bars.

I do advise you to call the bars and explain to them the situation. I am sure that most of them will be happy to help you out. If not, then pick one that is thankful for your business. I think Sardis is a great choice, but I doubt they have a happy hour.

    here are my suggestions:

    UES

    The Auction House

    UWS

    The Dublin House

    225 W. 79th St., New York, NY 10024 nr. Broadway 212-874-9528

you could also try Hi Life

it is a restaurant-bar and they have locations in both UWS and UES

Keep me posted as how your search goes. And please tell the bars that iheartnycbars blog sent you.

    Salud,
    Tanya

    Hey,

This blog has been really helpful in crossing off bars for NYE. I’m from Australia, and travelling with a group of 4 to American over the New Year. I have no idea on bars/lounges but from this blog it seems the Penthouse at Rivington and (if I can find ticketing details) Broadway Bar sound pretty good.

We just want a nice relaxed atmosphere with a view of some/any fireworks :) If there are any other suggestions you can make specifically for NYE, I’d be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Nathan

    Thanks Nathan,

For fireworks on New Year’s I would go for a place with no attitude so you will be able to find a spot there. The Broadway Bar or Me Bar are good chill bets.

    Happy new year!
    Tanya
